Lazy Way

Welcome to the last days of winter.

We have (roughly) another month before spring springs, so if you feel more like hibernating than hiking, you’re on nature’s time.

I thought this would be an ideal time to share my favorite lazy ways to gain better health.

These small steps will help get you through these cold winter days without expending too much energy.

They’re a perfect precursor to spring when energy levels naturally increase.

7 Lazy Ways to Wellness

  1. Wear ankle weights around the house or while on a walk.

  2. Practice resting squats. The resting squat is a natural human position that many people struggle with due to tight hips and misalignments. Practice and gentle stretching will make this easier over time. This is an excellent guide.

  3. Focus on correct posture. If the neck is out of alignment, so is the lower back. Frequent posture adjustments can help improve neck and back pain, headaches, flexibility, balance, and range of motion.

  4. Enjoy warm nourishing drinks. T'is the season for deeply restorative nutrition and root vegetables. I love a cup of hot broth on a cool morning. If broth isn’t for you, opt for a cup of green tea. The health benefits are significant.

  5. Increase hydration. It’s dry season, and you’re probably dry, too.

  6. Put your legs up on the wall. Lay on the floor and prop your legs up on the wall. This posture helps to improve relaxation and circulation. Read more on the benefits here, and avoid this pose if you have glaucoma.

  7. Vaccum your stomach. Breathing and sucking in your stomach in specific ways has health benefits like increasing core and lower back stability. It’s a vigorous massage for the inner organs, and can help create heat and fire on cold days.

I’d love to know your lazy wellness tips!

Please share which of these you’re excited to try.

Take great care of you!
