WEAVING ALCHEMY

Heart of Summer

Here we are in the heart of summer.☀️ I hope you are enjoying this sweet summer heat.

Although these days feel hot, sticky, and slow, they still somehow pass too quickly. The longest days of the year are a fleeting reminder to be playfulcarefree, and wild

I keep reminding my kids that feeling the heat is part of the experience of summer, and have said more than once: "Go outside and play!  How are you going to know what hot feels like if you aren’t out in it?!"

The sweet, dirty hands of my youngest son and his most magical capture.

Summer nightshowever, are a different kind of special; almost quenching, bringing sweet relief from oppressive heat.

We stay up late, take walks in the dark, and listen to summer night sounds.  We lean into a slower pace, seek solace from the heat, and look for light in the darkness.

We look for the magic

… and we find it!

My favorite is the wonder of fireflies.  These little lightening bugs begin their tiny light-displays at dusk and are a gentle reminder that there is magic in the darkness.

How incredible that our world is full of endless contrast, curiosities, and new perspectives.

Appreciating the magic and wonder that surrounds us is just one way to live more mindfully and balance stress.

When working with clients, I often share tools that can calm stress. Essential oils are one of my most valued tools, and I’m excited to share a diffuser recipe today. This essential oil blend captures all the summer vibes + blasts stress. Enjoy!

Summer Sunset

4 drops of Bergamot (Citrus bergamia).  positively uplifting

Scientifically shown to be effective, Bergamot is an ally for uplifting the spirit and guiding it towards a more positive trajectory. The essence has been helpful in clearing the mind of intrusive thoughts, improving self-confidence and acceptance, and stabilizing emotions. {As a Professional Aromatherapist, it is one of my go-to essential oils for anxiety and stress-relief.}

2 drops of Hawaiian sandalwood (Santalum paniculatum).  connecting heart + mind

Sandalwood has a rich and beautiful spiritual history. Widely used in meditation, prayer, and medicine, it has an affinity for calming the mind and awakening the spirit.

2 drops of Ylang Ylang (Cananga odorata).  heart in harmony

Ylang ylang is a nurturing essence that helps lighten the burdens on the heart. It has proven helpful against depression, anxiety, and insomnia. She is a powerful reminder that even chaos can return to harmony.

Diffused, this blend is cleanrefreshing, and romantic... perfect after a long, hot summer day.  For maximum benefits, sit and relax near the diffuser and enjoy the aroma for 15 minutes.

I keep my diffuser on my bedside table to promote more relaxing sleep. It’s a beautiful way to nurture the senses after a long, summer day.

Stay cool! Fall is just around the corner…
