Dry Brush

There has never been a better time to focus on self-care.

Stress can take a harsh toll on the mind, body, and mood in ways that we sometimes don’t recognize. Caring for the body, even for just a few minutes each day, can have a profound effect on improving our overall well-being.

Dry brushing is a simple self-care technique that can be easily incorporated and enjoyed in your daily routine.

The benefits of dry brushing:

  • improves skin tone

  • stimulates circulation

  • invigorates + energizes the body

  • decreases cellulite

  • supports the lymphatic system

  • helps eliminate toxins

The technique:

Dry brushing is done while the body is dry. An ideal brushing technique involves working in long, upward strokes towards the heart.  I always shower immediately after dry brushing to wash away dead skin cells that loosened while brushing.

To increase the luxuriousness of your experience, add a few drops of your favorite oil to your brush, and always follow with a massage of nourishing and skin-loving oils.  This supports the skin’s naturally protective barrier, and helps boost hydration.

This morning I used a blend of sesame and sweet almond oil with the essential oils of grapefruit and myrrh. My skin is already grateful.
