Rooted + Glowing

Hello, hello!

This week, I had a wellness client ask if I preferred using a juicer or blender.

I answered her with an image, because sometimes a picture can say it all!

I juiced some fruits and veggies that were left over from the past week. They were at their peak, which creates an ultra-delicious juice of ripe, rich, and robust flavors.

Although juices are rich in vitamins and minerals, there is a downside to juicing that many people don’t consider.

In the photo, do you notice all of the left-over fibrous plant material? This typically gets tossed in the trash after juicing, but it contains one of the most beneficial ingredients of all.

Fiber! Think of fiber as tiny scrubbers that clean out the intestinal tract and colon when you consume it.

Repeating the same recipe in a blender would certainly give the drink a different texture, but it would also contain the added health benefits of fiber, which include decreased risk of some cancers and improved longevity!

“To Juice” or “To Blend:” That is the Question

The argument for using a blender: Fiber gives the smoothie a strong upper-hand in improving health and nutrition. All of that fiber also helps in feeling fuller for longer.

The argument for using a juicer: Sometimes, texture is everything! As a juice, this recipe was incredible! As a smoothie, though, the texture would have negatively altered the experience. At times when texture is a deal-breaker, juicing may be a better option.

The argument for both: Some ingredients are better in juices (like beets), while others are best in a blender (like avocados).

If you have a juicer, please try “Rooted + Glowing,” and let me know what you think! This particular recipe is loaded with minerals and vitamins, and yielded one amazing glass of delicious, vibrant pink juice!

Get glowing, and share your favorite smoothie recipe in the comments.!
