Edible Blossoms

Hi gorgeous!

I’ve gotten more into gardening and wellness over the past few years. Nurturing plants while they grow is such a delightful exercise in patience and appreciation for our food.

Earlier this week, I stepped into the garden and found these beautiful yellow zucchini blossoms in abundance almost overnight!

Did you know that these gorgeous yellow flowers are edible and delicious?

You can eat them fresh, fried, stuffed, or as a cream sauce. Your options are many!   💕

If you’re blessed to have these in your garden, I’ll offer a tip for picking:

Only the female flowers produce the fruit, so you can choose to just eat the male flowers to keep your veggies growing. The female flowers are tastier, though, so you may want to try them both!

Is it a fella or a lady flower? The males are hairier and are thin at the base where they connect to the stem. The female flowers have an ovary bulge that you can feel.

I would love to know if you try them, especially if you find a delicious recipe!

My sweet friend, Sadie, shared that squash and zucchini blossoms are regularly consumed in Sicily, where her grandparents live. I don’t know about you, but I think the Italians know a thing or two about delicious foods!

Try something new, and keep blooming!
