WEAVING ALCHEMY

Winter Rest

Between two worlds

This is the time of year when we have our feet in two worlds: one, a cool and sleepy dreamworld where things aren’t quite clear, and the other, a backdrop for growth and action, new life, and fresh energy.

If we were hibernating bears, we would be stirring - not yet fully awake. We would be: becoming aware of our needs, taking assessment of our bodies, and stretching from long periods of inactivity.

This week marks the end of the long winter.

On March 20th, we will usher in a new, more energetic season, but until then, take some extra time for self-care.

Life works in cycles

It’s not just the time change, but the seasonal shifting also affects us.

If you’ve been dreaming more, feeling slower, craving extra sleep, feeling spacey or disconnected, or feeling more sensitive and emotional, you’re right on time!

We will be wringing out the last drops of winter with a full moon on Friday. Watch for big emotions, and know this is a great time to take it extra-easy.

Stretch more to help clear stagnant energy, and do a self-inventory:

  • What does my physical body need? (ex. more movement, massage, bath)

  • What does my physical space need? (ex. repairs, decluttering, rearranging)

  • What does my mind need? (ex. gratitude, plan of action, calming exercises, sleep)

  • What is my general emotional state? (ex. content, anxious, calm, hopeful, stressed)

  • What new habits would I like to create? What old habits would I like to eliminate?

No need to take action just yet, only assess.

Once we are fully into the SPRING of things, you’ll likely have more energy to get moving on your goals.

I’ve included a few videos that can help support this final week of hibernation. Try one or more before you go to bed to promote deeper sleep, increased relaxation, and mental ease.

Rest up, little bear! It’s almost time to get busy again!

I’d love to know how you are winding-down this winter, and more importantly, how you most love to wind down before bed. Share below!

Happy Hibernating!
