PATCHOULI
AROMATIC EXPERIENCE with
Patchouli, Pogostemon cablin
I recently walked a small group through an aromatic experience with Patchouli essential oil.
I wanted to share it here with you today.
This is a powerful exercise if you are smell training, or working to improve your sense of smell post-illness or infection.
Let me know if you give it a try, and feel free to use any essential oil you have on hand.
When do I use Patchouli essential oil? In prayer and meditation; to ground-in elevated consciousness and to gain a more spiritual perspective; in deep appreciation and in silence; and to add hints of earthiness to botanical blends and natural perfumes
How would I describe the aroma? earthy, musky, damp, reminiscent of childhood days playing in the dirt after the rain
A Quiet RELAXATION EXPERIENCE with Patchouli
Sit quietly, with a straight spine.
Rub one drop of Patchouli essential oil between your palms.
Bring your hands 12 inches from your face. Take a complete breath, inhale and exhale, three times.
Bring your hands 6 inches from your face and take three complete breaths.
Bring your hands 3 inches from your face and take three complete breaths.
Bring your hands close to, but not touching, your face and take three complete breaths.
Aim to sit quietly enjoying the aroma for as long as you are able.
Notice what comes up, and allow it to pass easily.
Use the aroma to ground fully into your body.
Notice any area in the body that feels particularly good.
Smile.
Radiate that good feeling throughout your body.
Place your attention back on the aroma.
Notice how the scent has changed since your first contact with it.
Give thanks and gratitude for the powerful ability to smell.
Give thanks and gratitude for the ability to ground into the body.
Give thanks and gratitude for Patchouli and the medicine it offers.
Give thanks and gratitude for your experiences and the medicine you bring to others.
Give thanks and gratitude to God for your life.
Shake your hands out at the wrists to begin waking the body up from stillness.
Smile.
Repeat, as necessary.
Did you try the relaxing exercise? I’d love to hear about your experience.
