MIDDLE YEARS

WHy do we stop asking?

We talk a lot about hopes and dreams when we are little.

We even ask silly questions of five year olds, like: “What do you want to be when you grow up?” Most adults I know still don’t know what they want to be when they grow up.

As kids, we daydream, let ourselves dream big, and act out the part.

As adults, though, something shifts.

Some of us:

  • stop dreaming. We stop asking the deeper questions and allow life to just pull us along.

  • live the lives of our parents and their parents.

  • chase dreams that we are “supposed to” and never find our own authentic path.

  • stay in the game for too long time and don’t know another way.

  • rushed out of the gates with blinders on and pushed so hard to get ahead that we never really slowed down to enjoy it.

  • were itching to begin the race not realizing that the ultimate race would be against ourselves.

  • learned early that the game of life is “WIN AT ANY COST,” even if that means trading our health and time for money and our personal satisfaction for success.

  • have no idea how to relax.

All of these come with a price.

“It” Makes A Comeback

I work with a lot of people who spend their 30’s, 40’s and 50’s recovering from the side effects of having been highly driven in their early years.

Yes, all of that pushing that catches up to us at some point - usually:

  • when we least expect it,

  • when it’s not convenient,

  • and when we’d rather ignore instead of face it.

“It” can show up in different ways: as chronic fatigue, anxiety, dysfunctional nervous systems, illness, feeling stuck or unfulfilled, mid-life crisis, etc.

By the time it catches up, we think it is reflective of something that’s dysfunctional right now, but it’s not.

It’s reflective of right now and the cumulative years behind us.

MIDDLE YEARS

These middle years are the ideal time for deprogramming from the expectation of others, rediscovering your true values, and creating a lifestyle that supports who you are now…

and who you are becoming.

If you feeling drained, depleted, disconnected, or downright stuck, you’re being called to slow down and honor your own needs.

If you’re ready to bring your life into more authentic alignment, you’re right on time.

You’ve been waiting.

I’d love to help.
